This mesmerizing specimen of iridescent rainbow hematite comes from the Andrade Mine in Brazil, one of the few known sources of this naturally occurring optical phenomenon. Discovered in 1992, this variety of hematite displays vivid bands of violet, blue, gold, and green that shimmer across its surface due to natural thin-film interference—not dyes or coatings.
Unlike standard hematite, which forms in solid metallic masses, this piece features a mirror-like luster and radiant color play, making it highly collectible and visually striking under any light. Natural rainbow hematite is exceptionally rare, with most available pieces coming from old stock, as this material is no longer being actively extracted.
