In ancient times, Vietnam was renowned for having the most brilliant blue Aquamarine in the world. This valuable Aquamarine was highly sought after by gem cutters, who would buy up all of the crystals for faceting into gemstones. Very few crystals were saved, causing these Aquamarine specimens from Vietnam to become rare. Even today mineral collectors are in a race against time to obtain these complete crystals for preserving as mineral specimens.
